Image Board Week: Board 1

Lately I have been so inspired by image and mood boards on blogs like Snippet & Ink and Delight by Design.  Compilations of images are so much more awe-inspiring and mood-evoking than just a single image.  So this week I will be featuring a different mood board everyday, and at the end of the week you all can vote on which one is your favorite.  Look forward to fresh, inspiring montages of pictures to fuel your creativity this week!

Weekend Wedding Update

Have you visited the e-magazine Utterly Engaged yet?  It is simply beautiful, graphically-layed-out well, and so inspirational.  It is an online magazine created to bring together wedding professionals and brides-to-be to inspire them about everything from tablescapes to dresses.  Check out their website for multiple editions of their e-magazine.

I love this modern nautical themed tablescape...such a great inspiration for my wedding!  I love the play on textures, the blue and white linens, and the square plates.  The driftwood layered on top of each other and the shells creates such a unique center piece.

The bright color combination of flowers and vases pops off the dark wood table.  It may be a little too girly for the actual wedding, but it would be perfect for a bridal shower.  Below is a detail of the individual place setting.

Garden tea party anyone?

This menu card is so simple and elegant.  I love the combination of fonts and how it not only serves a functional purpose of letting guests know the menu, but also is a decorative way to continue the look and feeling of your event.

One of the first things I decided about the wedding was that instead of our guests throwing rice or blowing bubbles, I'd love to exit surrounded by sparklers at night time.  I love the style of this photo, blurred just enough to show off her gorgeous ring and her brilliant smile.

Let the Fling Continue!

Even though fourteen feet ceiling's Spring Fling week has come to an end, I wish you all the happiest of weekends. Let the good weather and spring bliss continue:)

Aaah Spring...

One look at this room and I suddenly get that cool, soft, feeling of spring.  The flowers blossoming out the windows and the light floral bedding makes me want to stay in this room forever.

Snapshots of Spring: Interiors

A common thread throughout all the upcoming images: sunlight and white.  These bright breezy spaces celebrate natural daylight and emphasize the architectural details of the space.  Color is used as an accent, and the furniture all has clean simple lines.

I love the green-house-like windows that are punctuated with the pink pinstripe curtains.

The cabinetry is substantial and heavy while still giving the space a clean feel.  I love how the gray cabinetry takes a step back and lets the bright white island be the main focal point.

Wouldn't you love to sit here and read?  This cozy chair makes the most of this unusual space by allowing the sunlight to provide any needed light while reading or blogging.

This last one is my favorite.  The floor-to-ceiling built ins are gorgeous, and the fact that everything is painted white allows the viewer to notice the architectural details.  The books lend pops of color and show the purpose of this bright room...to read.

Room of the Week: Spring Fling

I love the sunshine pouring in through this window.  The black couch grounds the focal point window, and the clean white walls and lines of the Barcelona Chair are a perfect match.  A simple chandelier adds the finishing touch.

With all this warm, sunny weather we've been having lately, it makes me want to break out the sundresses and thin, wispy clothing.  I've put together 2 summer looks that I'd love to wear, complete with accessories and even a cute chair.  Floral prints, a play on textures, and bright pops of color rule this  season's looks.

Ready for Spring Fling?

In hopes of warmer weather and to celebrate the upcoming spring break, this week I will be featuring all spring related posts.  Preppy colors, pastel palettes, breezy airy rooms, and light graphics will take our minds off of this cold windy weather.  So to kick off our Spring Fling, here's an image board that evokes the feelings I get from spring.  Sunshine on your shoulders, ribbons in your hair, whispy skirts...

Get to know an Interior Designer: Kelly Hoppen

Kelly Hoppen is a British Interior Designer who has designed across the globe.  She also has her own collection of paint, accessories, and a series of books.  In Touch, a book she wrote on how to use texture in your spaces has served as a great inspiration to me for residential interior studio projects.  I love her simple color palettes that look look rich due to the contrasting textures.

Student Spotlight: Molly

Our class just finished up doing a multi-generational house that includes a courtyard and living areas for 3 generations of 1 family.  Molly did a great job with giving her house a contemporary, crisp feel while still using traditional materials.  Her dropped ceiling beams carry your eye along the perimeter of the courtyard and into the rest of the space.  Feel free to leave comments or suggestions, I know Molly would love feedback on her work!
