Watercolor Wednesday

I discovered Serena Mitnik-Miller through mimi & meg blog.  She is a painter and photographer who is inspired by her love of sea and surf.  Her website is beautiful, as well as her blog.  I'd love to have her photos or paintings on my walls!

Weekend Wedding Update

I'm continuing to get inspired by weddings featured on Southern Weddings Magazine Blog, and lately they've had a few nautical-themed weddings.  Perfect!

I loved this image because of the navy and white bold table cloth.  The graphic pattern is Greece-y and fresh.

Simple flowers pop off the table cloth.

What an awesome idea for a wedding favor.  Your guests could use this all the time, and it just reiterates the nautical theme.

I want my reception to be near a lake or river just to be able to stand on a dock with the sunsetting to get a photo like this.  What a moment.

This table setting is nautical in a totally different way.  It is more traditional with red roses and a script-y font for a monogram and menu cards.

Watercolor Wednesday

Today's watercolor is based on Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis fabric.  I used Winsor Newton ceridean orange and blue, mixed with each other and with black to vary tone and value.

Washington D.C's National Cathedral

I went on a field trip with my grandfather's blacksmith guild to the National Cathedral.  It was neat traveling with my grandparents and parents, and we saw a lot of beautifully crafted ironwork and stained glass.  Here are a few photographs from the trip...

Stained Glass Windows on both sides of the Cathedral

Beautiful Doors

Watercolor Wednesday

I love how this painting zooms in on an intricate plant, and depicts the layering of leaves and sunlight.  The colors are warm and the bright highlights and dark shadows give this image so much depth.

Room of the Week

Wouldn't you love to take a bath in this tub?  This image from Donna Karan's Manhattan Apartment is so refreshing. I love the flat, low lines that don't block the window.  The view reminds me of an Italian alley, and the light pouring in is warm and inviting.  The ladder not only serves as a towel rack, but also provides a vertical element to contrast the low horizontal tub.
