Tablescape DIY

I loved coco & kelley's post idea of a 20 Minute Table.  This year for Thanksgiving I was in charge of the place settings, so I got creative with natural elements and glass jars found around the house.  Everything I used we already had, so not only was it quick, but also free!

Room of the Week

If I had an entry way that looked this chic I'd be set.  Crisp white walls serve as the backdrop for an industrial hanging system and a variety of textures.  The photo montage above the door puts a fresh spin on displaying antique family photos.

Room of the {Thanksgiving} Week

Home.  The best thing about Thanksgiving Break is being home with family.  This interior is so home-y and cozy with a perfect fall color palette.  Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Engagement Pictures

So remember this post?  Well Chris and I were lucky enough to have Rebecca of Sterling Reflections shoot our engagement photographs!  I was so impressed with how comfortable she made us feel and how much fun we had taking these!  Chris especially hates posing for pictures, but she was so quick about it and she let us feel natural and just be ourselves.  We found some awesome backdrops at our church family member's house by the river.  So thanks to Mae & Stanley for that!  I am so happy with how the photographs turned out, so I had to show them off to you all.  I can't wait to hear which one{s} are your favorites!  Thanks Becca for doing such an amazing job!

Thanks so much Becca!  Check out more of her amazing photography on her blog.

Brasserie Restaurant in NYC

Located in New York City's Seagram Building, the Brasserie Restaurant combines slight curves with angles.  Designed by architects Diller Scofidio & Renfro, the restaurant has no view to the outside or street.  Instead monitors at the entry and above the bar display video-recorded images of diners as they enter.  A 50' sheet of glass is propped up behind dining tables as an ode to windows.  A slightly bowed form covered in wooden veneer provides a backdrop to more tables, contrasting with the angular lines of the booth seating and tables.

My Style: Spanish Home

This home in Spain has an interior that fits my taste perfectly.  Crisp white walls with splashes of color here and there make this space contemporary yet comfortable.  I love the textures of the molded plastic dining chairs, cowhide rug, and sweater-like throw.

Wedding Inspiration: Ralph Lauren

I fell in love with this wedding inspiration shoot on Style Me Pretty inspired by Ralph Lauren.  Everything about this set is fresh and different.  The white hydrangeas paired with pheasant feathers, the beautiful gown contrasting with riding boots, and the simple burlap underneath the china plates make for beautiful contrasts.

Room of the {Productive} Week

I thought this home office space would be the perfect inspiration to encourage a productive week.  A lot of us have projects and tests before Thanksgiving Break, so this interior is just what we need to inspire us to buckle down and work hard!

Fresh Transitional Palette

I am adoring this fresh color palette.  Its perfect for the transition from fall to winter.  This combination of images definitely makes for one of my most favorite mood boards I've ever created.  Cotton, melon, and minty teals are the common threads throughout all these gorgeous photos.

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Digital Magazine

In need of a little interior inspiration?  Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles features a free digital magazine.  It features beautiful interiors that are classic yet fresh.  So take a peak when you have a design block!

Architectural Facade: Hover House 3

When I stumbled across this home on Contemporist, I immediately noticed the different patterns and rhythms that make up the facade.  X-shaped bracing, horizontal slats, vertical elements, and polka-dot-like lighting create a patchwork effect that keeps your eye traveling to all the different spaces.

Designed by Glen Irani Architects, this home is the third in their Hover House Series. This series aims to maximize outdoor living on small lots by 'hovering' the building envelope above grade level. The home not only has a reduced footprint but also incorporates sustainable design elements such as roof-mounted photovoltaic panels that offset 80% of its power demands.

The recessed lighting appears to be sporadic, but lights the different areas appropriately.  The concrete walls, slate floors, and metal accents give the interior a clean, contemporary feel.

The courtyard cuts through the interior shell, allowing natural light into all corners of the space.  The X-shaped bracing seen on the facade is echoed on the interior courtyard wall.

{Outdoor} Room of the Week

I adore this outside space designed by Timothy Whealon.  The crisp whites combined with yellow zebra print pillows and a bold striped awning make for a classic space that has been jazzed up with unexpected statement pieces.

Student Spotlight: Library Perspectives

Our class just wrapped up our designs for VCU's Medical Library.  Everyone had such strong concepts and carried out their ideas so well through out their perspectives and designs.  I love the fresh look our perspectives have because of new techniques such as lens blur and grunge texture overlays.  I couldn't resist showing off our classes work!

Jessica's concept was based on Richmond's historic railways, echoed by parallel wooden railroad ties that enveloped her space.

Jamie used wayfinding & directionality as the main design aspect of her interior.  Simple white wrapping structures carried the viewer throughout the space, while digital motion-sensored walls encouraged interaction between the individual and the space.

A curving form inspired by the shape of eye glasses was the main aspect of Liz's design.  Individuals could interact with the form and become the action that occurs within "lenses" the shape created.

Morgan's design created built-in coves and niches that the reader could interact with, making the idea of the traditional library become more of an individual experience.

Molly's design featured a series of neutral cantilevered spaces that aim to provide each reader with a different  individualistic experience based on the idea of phenomenology.

My design's goal was to emulate an exterior landscape, featuring floor levels based on different aspects of a horizon and a cantilevered treehouse cafe.

Image Board Layout

My good friend Rebecca of Sterling Reflections Photography introduced me to Untamed Heart Photography.  I love their photographs, and I was drawn to this image board of photos of the cute couple Stacy & Kurt.

I love not only the rounded corners of the images, but also how the layout mixes black and white photographs with full color.  The simple green leaf-like shapes with text offset the images.  I hope this serves as much as an inspiration to you as it does to me!  This definitely inspires my studio mood boards!

Watercolor Wednesday

I found this little gem on Aubrey Road's Tumblr.  I love the geometric shapes created by such an organic medium of watercolor.  The color palette and different opacities overlaid give this painting so much depth.

Interiors by Sarah Richardson

Jamie introduced me to interior designer Sarah Richardson, who has 4 design shows on HGTV.  She also has her own furniture line and paint collection.  Her clean and timeless approach to design encompasses everything from cottage style to contemporary, allowing her interiors to appeal to anyone, no matter what their taste.

Her webpage portfolio design is beautiful, too!  I love the blueprint-esque style.
